Beginning in 2012, marked the success of Nikon camera products with the launch of its new DSLR Nikon D800. This camera is a lot of surprise and provide news to the world of photography, Nikon the DLSR camera, the giant camera company, which since expanded digital world; launching of a Nikon D800 with 36 megapixel full frame specification, included 1080p 30fps Videography. Nikon as a world-class DLSR camera manufacturer, which has always maintained a low megapixels while keeping the high IQ (Image Quality) and low noise which, rather it began to wake up and realize the importance of the number of pixels for the “High Quality Printing” consumer, and were able to get the alternative positions of “Medium Format” photography; distinguished relatively high prices once the camera is still, to this time could reach hundreds of millions of dollars.
BIG GIANT LEAP
The launch of the Nikon D800 is a big jump and important for Nikon itself. Regardless of the pros & cons, test results and reviews of some pro photographers and those who can be trusted, the Nikon D800 is able to produce stunning and admirable images and video.
Even Thom Hogan in his review said that the Nikon D800 is “the successor to the Nikon D3X in Nikon D7000 body”, said also to some photographers who like the “Cropping” will not see many advantages of the features on this camera and recommend them to choose the Nikon D7000, because the megapixel size high on the Nikon D800 is intended for true “full frame” photographers.
Although Kenrockwell favor Canon 5D Mark III on Nikon D800, he also noted that users of the Nikon D800 can produce superb photos as long as understand it’s menu system, such as autofocus system, metering and focus points.

Since its launch, I’ve been interested to this Nikon D800 DSLR cameras. A lot of technical reasons why I have choose it. At this time, I do not have time to see difference of the picture with a different setting both the white balance, High ISO NR and others.
In August 2012, I fight to get this camera, but it remains difficult to find a camera store that had “ready stock”. There are some agents and camera store in Jakarta offer “ready stock” camera, but at a price well above the normal market price. As I enjoyed my time off in Yogyakarta, on October 22, 2012, Dimas – my son and I were dropped to one digital camera shop in Yogyakarta where the store is an authorized reseller products Nikon and I see one hanging in it’s closet exhibitionist. Briefly, I bought it in next day, unfortunately I could not get up additional battery spare in this shop.
I used to hold the Nikon D3, although Nikon D3 is heavy but I felt the fingers tightly to hold the Nikon D3. When holding and press the shutter button of Nikon D800, I feel less comfortable, although lighter than Nikon D3 and probably because I have not used to. When I attached the lens Nikkor ED AFS 14-24mmG ED, it’s heavy but still much lighter than the Nikon D3.
The menu system is almost the same as the Nikon D3 or others Nikon DSLR full-frame. Of particular interest and other features, and I think also the advantages of this camera is the HDR photo and Videography facilities. It is interesting for me to learn Videography of this camera, as I am still new to this. The HDR image doesn’t able in NEF format, but JPG & TIFF format only.
Buttons is also a new thing for me who are familiar with the Nikon D3 earlier, at the top left button, placed for setting ISO, BKT, WB and QUAL, with players knob to select a shooting mode.
Shutter button as before and is still a bit wonky; hopes of ease and comfort when pressed. Just beside it is the recording for video, I think the distance between the shutter button and the recording is too close. In fact we can either press on with the recording with the “Mode”. In the back camera body, the buttons would be familiar for most of Nikon’s users, it’s just that there is a new one that is the “Live View” button with option of shooting mode and Video mode.

Guess, I do not need to write much about this spectacular camera, because it has been discussed dozens of websites and dig about this camera technically, I do not even need to write technical specifications, believed most of you knew about it. Most importantly how can we make amazing pictures from this camera. I have to keep remembering that I should be pretty close and get to know this camera system to be able to produce good photographs. Here’s what I would do next month is to know and learn the camera first before visiting the places for hunting photos.
