Every time I see the milky way photo on internet, either on social networks or sharing of some other photographer friends; I always want to take it and produce milky way image. Ray paths of the stars in the sky, appears similar to the smoke looks are characteristic of any photographs of the milky way. I’ve read how to shot, set the camera and choose the location of the shot. Photo above is a photo I took of the milky way in Parangtritis Beach, South of Yogyakarta City. Settings used are speed 1/15sec, f/2.8, ISO 4000, taken using the D800, at 14mm. I was lucky, that time the weather was improved quickly, while previously cloudy. Photo below is a photo I shoot when I have the opportunity to shooting milky way seriously; photo using the settings above is 1/20sec, f/2.8, ISO 3200; actually part of the foreground (the hills and sea) originally in the dark; This photo I process using a digital blending method. At that time, I was camping with family at the beach Klayar, I was accompanied by my son – DIMAS and tried various settings of the camera speed, aperture and ISO number. Basically, light pollution around the area shooting a very influenced.
After a bit of know how to shoot in the milky way, I started thinking about what can be targeted objects in the foreground and how the lighting system, so that post processing is not a hassle. Finally came the idea, if using a flashlight, a little theater of action, etc.. As the photo below is as if I “Grabbing the Tail” of the milky way.
Happy MILKY WAY,
